Meta and Microsoft are reducing employees’ use of Anthropic’s AI assistant, Claude, as they promote their own tools and seek to control costs. Both companies have been significant corporate customers of Anthropic.

At Meta, the number of employees using Claude’s coding assistant has reportedly fallen by half, from approximately 60,000 to 30,000. The company is promoting its own tools, including MetaCode.

Microsoft has cut its projected internal spending on Anthropic’s technology by more than a third. It is directing employees to use its own offerings, including GitHub Copilot, instead of Claude.
