Meta CTO Andrew Bosworth announced the production of the first breakthrough AI models by the new Superintelligence Labs. He made the announcement at the World Economic Forum in Davos.

The models are codenamed 'Avocado' for text and 'Mango' for visual intelligence. They achieved "very good" internal results after six months of development. Meta targets a public release in the first half of 2026.

This accelerated development enhances Meta's competitive position against rivals such as Google's Gemini. The move follows criticism faced by the previous Llama 4 model.

Meta continues its strategic pivot toward AI. The company recently implemented layoffs in its Reality Labs division. This action shifts focus away from broader metaverse ambitions.
