Meta Platforms has commenced construction on a $10 billion data center campus in Lebanon, Indiana. The project represents one of the company's most substantial infrastructure investments to date.
The facility will provide one gigawatt of capacity to support expanding AI workloads and core services. This development reflects a strategic shift toward gigawatt-scale facilities to meet increasing compute demands.
Construction is expected to create over 4,000 jobs at its peak. Meta anticipates hiring approximately 300 permanent operational employees once the site is complete. The company is also investing over $120 million in local public infrastructure, including roads and water systems.
Meta shares were trading flat in pre-market activity following the announcement.
