Meta Platforms is in preliminary talks to lease AI compute capacity to Anthropic for up to $10 billion over two years. The potential deal marks a strategic shift to monetize AI infrastructure by leasing excess data-center GPUs to third parties.

The company hired former AWS executive Dave Brown to lead its new AI cloud infrastructure division. Meta joined Microsoft and Alphabet in leasing a record 9.6 GW of power capacity during the second quarter. This capacity expansion supports the company's growing network of AI data centers.

Rothschild & Co maintained a Buy rating on Meta stock following the announcement. Analysts raised the 12-month price target from $900 to $1,000. The firm expects the move into business AI services to expand margins and sustain long-term growth.
