Meta Platforms will discontinue access to its Horizon Worlds social metaverse platform on Quest VR headsets starting June 15, 2026. The company will remove the application from Quest devices and disable VR access to virtual worlds on that date.
This move shifts Horizon Worlds toward an almost exclusively mobile experience. Meta is repositioning the platform to compete more directly with rivals like Roblox and Fortnite. Users will maintain access to mobile-optimized worlds through the Meta Horizon mobile app.
The strategic pivot follows significant cutbacks within Meta's Reality Labs division. This hardware unit has reported substantial financial losses.
