Sandhya Devanathan is leaving Meta after more than a decade to join OpenAI. She starts her new role in October. Devanathan will serve as OpenAI’s most senior leader for Southeast Asia and Australia. She will be based in Singapore.

Her responsibilities include overseeing consumer growth, enterprise adoption, and partnerships. She will also manage engagement with regional regulators. This move follows OpenAI’s aggressive expansion across Asia. The company recently opened several regional offices and made key executive hires.

Devanathan joined Meta in 2016. She previously led the gaming business in the Asia-Pacific region. She later managed Meta's operations in India and Southeast Asia.
