AMI Labs, an artificial intelligence startup co-founded by Yann LeCun after his departure from Meta, raised $1.03 billion in its seed funding round. This financing represents a record for a European seed round.

The investment establishes a pre-money valuation of $3.5 billion. Investors in the round include Nvidia, Temasek, and Jeff Bezos’s Bezos Expeditions.

The company focuses on developing world models that process virtual and real-world sensory data to mimic human understanding. This methodology departs from the large language models that currently dominate the field. The startup aims to compete with AI research at Meta, Google, and Microsoft.
