Anthropic updated Claude Opus 4.6 and Sonnet 4.6 to support a 1 million token context window. This feature is now generally available at standard pricing. The update removes the previous long-context pricing premium. A 900,000-token request now costs the same per-token as a small request.

The expanded window is the new default for Claude Code Max, Team, and Enterprise users. This enhancement allows models to process entire codebases or thousands of document pages in a single prompt.

Anthropic also increased media input limits sixfold. Users can now include up to 600 images or PDF pages per request.

The move pressures Google’s Gemini and Microsoft-backed OpenAI’s GPT models to match the new price-performance standard. The feature is currently available on the Claude Platform, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud’s Vertex AI.
