Cognition, the creator of the AI software engineer Devin, has acquired The Interaction Company. The acquired firm developed Poke, a proactive AI assistant that operates through SMS and messaging apps.
Poke has processed more than 100 million messages over the last three months. Cognition will integrate Poke’s conversational and proactive interaction style into Devin to enhance user-friendliness.
This acquisition reflects an industry shift toward prioritizing AI personality to drive user adoption. Poke will continue to operate independently before leveraging Cognition’s infrastructure to improve speed and reliability.
