AI startup Cognition released SWE-1.7 to handle complex software engineering tasks.
The model processes data at a rate of 1,000 tokens per second. Cognition developed the tool using the Kimi K2.7 model from Chinese firm Moonshot AI. The technology is now available through the Devin AI software engineer product.
Internal tests rank SWE-1.7 performance near OpenAI’s GPT-5.5 and Anthropic’s Claude Opus 4.8. The company claims the model matches top-tier performance at a significantly lower price point. This move intensifies competition for enterprise customers within the AI development market.
