Microsoft is launching a strategic initiative to accelerate AI adoption across Africa to compete with China's DeepSeek.

The company aims to train three million people in AI skills during the current year.

This effort focuses on key regional markets including South Africa, Kenya, Nigeria, and Morocco.

Microsoft partnered with MTN Group, the continent's largest telecommunications operator, to bundle Microsoft 365 and Copilot AI for its subscriber base.

The initiative also includes expanding cloud and AI infrastructure capacity in South Africa to meet rising digital demand.
