Microsoft leased a 700-megawatt data center project in Abilene, Texas, from developer Crusoe. This agreement significantly expands Microsoft’s infrastructure for artificial intelligence and cloud computing services.

The deal was finalized after Oracle and OpenAI withdrew from the project. The facility is located adjacent to the Stargate AI supercomputer campus currently operated by Oracle and OpenAI.

Microsoft secured the lease to capture critical power capacity in a market where energy availability limits AI development.
