Microsoft will invest $5.5 billion in Singapore through 2029 to expand its cloud and artificial intelligence infrastructure. This commitment covers ongoing operational costs and reflects long-term confidence in Singapore as a digital leader, according to Vice Chair and President Brad Smith. The move follows a separate $1 billion investment in Thailand for similar cloud and AI projects.
As part of the initiative, Microsoft will provide free Microsoft 365 Premium with Copilot to more than 200,000 tertiary students. The company is also launching free AI training programs for educators and non-profit organization leaders. These efforts aim to accelerate national AI adoption and ensure communities possess the skills to utilize the technology effectively.
