Microsoft will retire its standalone SharePoint Online and OneDrive for Business plans (Plan 1 and Plan 2). The company cites low customer demand, unintended usage, and higher operational costs for the change.

This move aims to steer customers toward the comprehensive Microsoft 365 Business or E3/E5 suites. These suites include SharePoint and OneDrive capabilities alongside other services.

New sales for the standalone plans will cease on May 31, 2026. Contract renewals will end in January 2027. Services for existing customers will continue until December 2029.
