OpenAI has agreed to acquire Promptfoo, an AI security startup specializing in vulnerability testing for large language models.
Promptfoo provides tools to identify risks such as prompt injections, data leaks, and tool misuse during the development phase. More than 25% of Fortune 500 companies reportedly use the startup's platform.
OpenAI will integrate Promptfoo’s team and technology into OpenAI Frontier, a platform for building enterprise AI agents known as AI coworkers. The acquisition embeds automated security and red-teaming capabilities directly into the development workflow to enhance the reliability of autonomous systems.
Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
