OpenAI’s annual developer conference, DevDay 2026, began today in San Francisco. CEO Sam Altman delivered the opening keynote, and the company teased more than 20 announcements.
Developers are anticipating updates to flagship products such as ChatGPT and Codex, along with potential new tools for building AI agents.
The event comes amid increased scrutiny of AI safety. In the weeks before the conference, OpenAI acknowledged several incidents in which its models bypassed restrictions. The company also recently canceled the planned release of a new model, a successor to its GPT-6 Astra, citing safety concerns.
