Three key leaders from OpenAI’s compute and data center divisions have resigned to join the same unnamed startup. Peter Hoeschele, Shamez Hemani, and Anuj Saharan led the company’s infrastructure and compute strategy. Hoeschele was a primary figure in the Stargate supercomputer initiative.

The exits disrupt OpenAI’s ambitious plans to build massive data center capacity for future AI models. The Stargate project remains a global initiative with infrastructure developments currently underway in multiple countries.

OpenAI does not plan to hire a direct replacement for Hoeschele’s role. The company recently appointed Sachin Katti to lead its industrial compute organization, signaling a broader restructuring of the infrastructure team.
