OpenAI announced partnerships with several of India’s leading higher education institutions to integrate artificial intelligence into academic curricula. The initiative aims to train more than 100,000 students, faculty, and staff over the next year. Participants will receive enterprise-grade access to tools including ChatGPT Edu.
The initial partner group includes the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi), the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIM Ahmedabad), and the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS New Delhi). Announced during the India AI Impact Summit, the collaboration embeds AI into engineering, management, and healthcare to develop an AI-ready workforce.
OpenAI is also collaborating with Indian ed-tech platforms PhysicsWallah and upGrad to launch structured AI courses. This expansion aims to scale AI literacy across India’s student and professional populations.
