Netflix and Sony Pictures Entertainment announced a landmark global Pay-1 licensing agreement on January 15, 2026. This exclusive, multi-year deal establishes Netflix as the worldwide streaming home for Sony’s feature films. The films will stream following their theatrical and home entertainment windows.
The agreement marks an industry-first for a Pay-1 window operating on a global scale. The new arrangement will roll out gradually as rights become available in individual territories.
This expands Netflix's existing Pay-1 rights for Sony films in select regions. Previous titles included "Uncharted" and "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse." The deal also licenses select titles from Sony’s film and television library.
Lauren Smith, Netflix’s Vice President of Licensing and Programming Strategy, stated the deal adds "incredible value to their subscriptions" by giving members exclusive access to Sony’s films.
