ATCO Ltd. is starting construction on the C$2.9 billion Yellowhead Pipeline following final approval from the Alberta Utilities Commission. This represents the largest energy infrastructure project in the company’s history. The development is expected to create approximately 2,000 direct construction jobs.
The 235-kilometre pipeline will transport more than 1.1 billion cubic feet of natural gas per day. The route extends from the Peers area in west-central Alberta to the Fort Saskatchewan industrial region.
This infrastructure will meet rising energy demand in the province’s industrial heartland. The project will supply Dow Chemical’s Path2Zero facility and support regional residential growth.
