Fitch Ratings revised the outlook for Anglo American plc to Stable from Negative on September 10, 2026. The agency affirmed the company’s Long-Term Issuer Default Rating at 'BBB+'.
Strong operational performance and high copper prices support the improved outlook. Fitch forecasts EBITDA net leverage will remain below 1.2x between 2026 and 2029. This lower leverage provides the company with greater capital allocation flexibility.
The rating action occurs as Anglo American advances its planned merger with Teck. The company also continues the sale of its coal assets and its ownership stake in De Beers.
