Nokia and Nvidia have launched the industry's first commercial AI-powered radio access network (AI-RAN) platform. The technology aims to double spectral efficiency by 2028.

The platform integrates Nokia anyRAN software with Nvidia Aerial AI-RAN technology. This shift moves network architecture from hardware-defined to software-defined, AI-accelerated systems. Software updates will replace costly hardware replacements to provide a path toward 6G networks.

Nvidia invested in Nokia in late 2025. Pilot deployments will begin at the end of 2026. Commercial availability is expected in 2027.
