This marks the first time the country has cleared the oral GLP-1 treatment. The regulatory milestone opens a significant European market for the company’s obesity franchise. This oral alternative to injectables aims to expand patient access and strengthen Novo Nordisk’s position against Eli Lilly.
The company also disclosed a cybersecurity incident involving unauthorized access to internal IT systems. Novo Nordisk stated the breach was limited and did not expose the identities of clinical trial participants. The incident did not affect company operations.
