Novo Nordisk presented positive results from three Phase 3 trials of its investigational drug, CagriSema, at the American Diabetes Association's (ADA) 2026 Scientific Sessions. The data from the REIMAGINE program showed that the once-weekly treatment significantly reduced both HbA1c (a measure of blood sugar) and body weight in adults with type 2 diabetes.

CagriSema is a combination of semaglutide, the active ingredient in Ozempic and Wegovy, and a novel amylin analog called cagrilintide. Across the studies, the drug combination demonstrated superior blood sugar and weight loss effects compared to a placebo and its individual components. For instance, the REIMAGINE 2 trial showed CagriSema was statistically superior to semaglutide alone for both weight and HbA1c reduction.

These findings position CagriSema as a potent future treatment, potentially strengthening Novo Nordisk's dominant role in the diabetes and obesity markets. The company submitted CagriSema to the FDA for weight management in December 2025, with a decision anticipated in the fourth quarter of 2026.
