Anthropic has agreed to pay SpaceX up to $84.5 billion through 2029 to use its Nvidia-based AI computing capacity, according to a confidential IPO prospectus. The deal makes Elon Musk’s SpaceX a significant new provider in a market currently dominated by established cloud companies.
Anthropic can cancel most of the agreement with 90 days’ notice, giving it considerable flexibility.
The prospectus also says Anthropic has committed to spend at least $518 billion on infrastructure with partners including Google, Amazon and Microsoft. The commitments underscore the immense cost of developing advanced AI.
