Nvidia-backed startup Reflection AI is partnering with South Korean retailer Shinsegae Group. The multi-billion dollar deal will establish a 250-megawatt AI data center. This facility will be the largest AI-dedicated data center built by a single company in South Korea.
The facility will deploy tens of thousands of Nvidia chips to train AI models. These models will focus specifically on the Korean language and culture. Shinsegae will lead construction and operations, while Reflection AI provides GPU infrastructure and AI model design.
The two companies plan to form a joint venture for the project. This initiative aligns with U.S. efforts to strengthen tech capabilities among allies. The project also serves to counter Chinese influence in the global AI sector.
