Nvidia is reportedly delaying the launch of its GeForce RTX 50-series SUPER graphics cards due to a severe global shortage of GDDR7 memory. The company informed manufacturing partners to expect no new GPU announcements at CES 2026, breaking its traditional annual release cadence.
The delay stems from DRAM manufacturers diverting production capacity toward high-margin, high-bandwidth memory (HBM) for AI accelerators. This shift has constrained the supply available for consumer hardware and caused memory procurement costs to soar.
Rising costs make the production of the VRAM-intensive SUPER series difficult to sustain. Nvidia may also reduce production of existing RTX 50-series cards to prioritize its more profitable AI and professional GPU segments.
