U.S. officials are considering a cap on the volume of high-performance AI accelerators NVIDIA can sell to individual Chinese companies.

The proposed restriction sets a per-customer limit of 75,000 units for chips such as the H200. This figure falls below the current purchasing targets of major Chinese tech firms including Alibaba and ByteDance.

The potential policy adds further uncertainty to NVIDIA’s operations in China, which already face significant export controls. NVIDIA shares declined nearly 1% in late trading following the report.
