UK-based autonomous driving startup Wayve raised $1.2 billion in a Series D funding round. SoftBank, Eclipse, and Balderton led the investment.

The deal values the company at $8.6 billion. Participants include Nvidia, Microsoft, Uber, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan, and Stellantis.

Total capital secured reached $1.5 billion including milestone-based investments from Uber. Wayve will use the funds to transition from research to the commercial deployment of its embodied AI technology.

The technology learns from real-world driving data without relying on detailed maps. The company plans to launch commercial robotaxi trials in 2026.
