A California federal judge denied a consumer request to block Paramount Skydance’s $110 billion acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery on Friday. The judge cited a lack of supporting evidence for the plaintiffs' claims as the basis for the ruling.
Paramount Skydance also filed legal arguments against a separate lawsuit from 12 states seeking to halt the deal. The company characterized that antitrust challenge as one of the weakest in modern history.
Management argues the merger is essential to compete against dominant streaming platforms. Legal challenges from the 12 states and the Writers Guild of America remain pending.
