The International Brotherhood of Teamsters formally requested the Department of Justice (DOJ) block the proposed merger between Paramount, Skydance, and Warner Bros. Discovery. The union represents nearly 15,000 motion picture workers.

A report submitted to the DOJ’s Antitrust Division warns the consolidation could trigger significant layoffs and decrease industry stability. The union also cited concerns regarding lower labor standards across the entertainment sector.

Teamsters General President Sean M. O’Brien stated the deal should not proceed without enforceable protections for domestic production and jobs. This opposition creates a new regulatory hurdle for the acquisition intended to combine two of Hollywood’s major studios.
