Qualcomm and Huawei have signed a broad, multi-year patent license agreement. It cross-licenses their respective patent portfolios in 5G, computing, AI and networking. Qualcomm will also purchase certain U.S. patents from Huawei covering AI and computing.
This is the first agreement between the companies to cover 5G technology. The financial terms were not disclosed, and the transaction is subject to regulatory approval. The companies said the agreement reflects a shared commitment to FRAND (fair, reasonable and non-discriminatory) licensing principles.
