Qualcomm announced the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 at its Snapdragon Summit. Both processors utilize a 2nm manufacturing process. These chips enable generative AI models to run directly on handsets to improve performance and privacy.
The flagship Extreme version supports large AI models with over 30 billion parameters. This model features dedicated AI cores integrated within its graphics unit. The launch intensifies competition with Apple’s A-series and Google’s Tensor processors.
Motorola and Xiaomi have already announced phones featuring the new hardware. Additional premium Android devices will adopt the chips in late 2026 and throughout 2027.
