Philippine government officials clarified on Wednesday that a potential ban on Roblox remains a possibility. This statement follows a previous Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) report suggesting the ban had been averted.
The Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) is leading ongoing discussions with the platform regarding content moderation. Officials noted that while Roblox has been amenable to requests, the ban is only suspended pending the execution of formal agreements.
Negotiated terms include the potential establishment of a local Roblox office. Authorities are also pushing for national identification system integration to verify user ages and protect minors from exploitation.
