Rivian Automotive began rolling out software update 2025.46, significantly expanding its assisted driving capabilities. The primary feature is "Universal Hands-Free."
This update increases hands-free driving coverage from 135,000 miles to over 3.5 million miles. This expanded coverage applies to roads in the United States and Canada that feature clear lane markings.
The software also introduces the "Digital Key" feature, which allows owners to use smartphones and smartwatches as a vehicle key. Rivian first previewed these capabilities during its AI and Autonomy event on December 11.
Although there is no specific market analysis for this software release, the update arrives amid positive company sentiment. Rivian stock recently hit a 52-week high. This performance is fueled by analyst upgrades and optimism surrounding its technology and the upcoming R2 vehicle platform, which is planned for 2026.
