Rocket Lab USA, Inc. has emerged as the sole bidder for Mynaric, a German specialist in satellite laser communications. This development follows the withdrawal of a potential competing offer from Rheinmetall AG. The move removes a primary obstacle to the acquisition deal originally established last year.

Mynaric supplies optical inter-satellite links required for satellite constellations, including those operated by the U.S. Space Development Agency. Securing this technology in-house advances Rocket Lab’s objective to become a fully integrated space infrastructure platform.

Financial analysts recently reiterated a Buy rating for the company. Rocket Lab currently reports a project backlog of approximately $1.85 billion. This financial position is supported by significant defense contracts and the continued expansion of its Space Systems division.
