Roche partnered with Atavistik Bio to develop treatments for cardiovascular, renal, and metabolic diseases. The deal carries a total potential value of nearly $2 billion. Roche will provide a $70 million upfront payment to Atavistik. Atavistik remains eligible for up to $1.9 billion in milestone payments and tiered royalties.
The collaboration utilizes Atavistik’s AMPS platform to identify novel protein binding pockets. This technology creates allosteric small molecule drugs for difficult-to-address targets. Atavistik will lead initial discovery and research activities. Roche will manage subsequent preclinical development, clinical trials, and commercialization.
