Sanofi discontinued three immunology drug development programs as part of its H1 2026 financial report. The company halted work on amlitelimab for atopic dermatitis, a drug originally acquired in a $1.1 billion deal. Sanofi also ceased development of itepekimab for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The company cited mixed Phase 3 trial results and a shifting competitive landscape for the cancellation.
Additionally, management terminated the balinatunfib program for Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. Interim study results failed to meet internal efficacy expectations during a broader strategic pipeline assessment.
