Sanofi offered commitments to the European Union to resolve an antitrust investigation launched in June. The company aims to avoid potential fines following allegations it disparaged a competitor's flu vaccine.
The probe examines whether Sanofi’s marketing for Efluelda unfairly portrayed CSL Seqirus’s Fluad vaccine as inferior in France and Germany.
Sanofi proposed publishing statements on its French and German websites for two years to settle the case. These notices will acknowledge that national advisory groups recommend both vaccines equally for elderly patients.
The company also committed to refraining from any negative portrayals of the rival product. The European Commission set an August 21 deadline for interested parties to provide feedback on the proposed concessions.
