Shell is in advanced talks to sell its South African fuel stations to ADNOC for approximately $1 billion. An official announcement could arrive within the coming days.

The deal includes roughly 600 retail sites. These assets represent 10% of the fuel market in Africa’s largest economy.

The acquisition marks ADNOC’s first major entry into the African fuel market. Shell is divesting these assets to focus on more profitable business segments. The sale process began in 2024 following Shell’s exit from the Durban refinery.
