Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier filed an antitrust lawsuit on September 25, 2026, against Sanofi, Eli Lilly, Novo Nordisk and other major insulin producers. The suit also names several pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs) as defendants and alleges the companies colluded to inflate insulin prices.

The complaint alleges that manufacturers offered substantial rebates to PBMs in exchange for preferential placement on their formularies, helping drive up insulin list prices. It says about 14% of Americans who use insulin face “catastrophic” spending on the medication.

Florida is seeking damages, civil penalties and a permanent injunction to ensure access to affordable insulin.
