Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) elevated its Gazoo Racing (GR) motorsports division into a stand-alone brand. TMC made the announcement at the Tokyo Auto Salon 2026.
The strategic shift positions Gazoo Racing as TMC's fifth major brand. It joins Toyota, Lexus, Daihatsu, and the recently formed Century luxury brand. Chairman Akio Toyoda led the press conference detailing the move, which aims to strengthen the development of motorsports-bred vehicles.
As part of the brand debut, TMC is showcasing new flagship models at the event. These include the GR GT and GR GT3 concepts. The company confirmed this focus on performance-oriented vehicles will also result in the renaming of its European motorsports R&D center.
