Tesla is shipping its entire inventory of US-made Model 3s from Canada back to the United States. This move clears existing stock to prepare for a supply chain pivot that will alter vehicle availability and pricing for Canadian consumers.

The strategic shift responds to a Canadian policy change effective March 1. This policy reduced the import tariff on Chinese-built electric vehicles to 6.1% from a previous 100% surtax.

Tesla will now leverage its Shanghai Gigafactory to supply Canada with more cost-effective cars. This transition provides the company a competitive head start while other manufacturers seek certification for their Chinese-built models.
