The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) closed its 15-month investigation into Tesla’s Actually Smart Summon feature. This probe covered nearly 2.6 million Tesla vehicles. Regulators ended the inquiry after determining that incidents linked to the remote-driving feature were of low severity.

The NHTSA reviewed between 100 and 159 reported incidents. These events consisted primarily of low-speed crashes involving minor property damage like hitting parked cars or gates. No injuries or fatalities occurred during these incidents.

The agency found the incident rate represented a fraction of a percent across millions of uses. Tesla issued six over-the-air software updates during the investigation to enhance obstacle detection. These updates improved the system's overall performance.
