Tesla completed the final production run of the Model S and Model X at its Fremont factory on May 10, 2026. The Model S remained in production for 14 years. The Model X concluded an 11-year production cycle.

CEO Elon Musk previously announced the end of these flagship programs during a January earnings call. Musk cited a strategic pivot toward an autonomous future as the primary reason for the decision.

Tesla will now retool the Fremont production lines to manufacture the Optimus robot.
