Tesla's new car registrations in the European Union fell 17% year-on-year in January 2026. The automaker registered 8,075 vehicles in the bloc, down from 9,733 in January 2025. This decline reduced Tesla’s EU market share to 0.8% from 1.0% a year prior.

The sales slump occurred despite the total battery-electric vehicle (BEV) market growing to 19.3% of all registrations from 14.9% the previous year. Tesla’s performance lagged significantly in key markets such as France and Germany. The data highlights intensifying competition from established European brands in the electric vehicle segment.
