Tesla launched the Powershare Grid Support Program, marking the company’s first vehicle-to-grid (V2G) system. The initiative initially targets Cybertruck owners in Texas served by CenterPoint Energy and Oncor utilities.

Bidirectional charging technology allows these vehicles to discharge excess power back into the electrical grid. Participants receive energy bill credits in exchange for their power contributions. Owners maintain control over the specific volume of energy discharged from their vehicles.

Each Cybertruck features a 123-kilowatt-hour battery capacity. These vehicles integrate into Tesla’s virtual power plant network to stabilize the Texas grid against extreme weather and rising demand.
