The UK energy regulator, Ofgem, granted Tesla Energy Ventures Limited a license to supply electricity to homes and businesses across Great Britain. This authorization follows a seven-month regulatory review process. The license officially takes effect on March 11, 2026.
This development allows Tesla to sell electricity directly to both domestic and non-domestic customers. The company will now compete directly with established utility providers in the UK retail energy market.
The expansion leverages Tesla’s existing portfolio of battery storage, solar, and energy management technologies. This move signals the company's intent to establish a significant presence in the British power sector.
