Tesla is expanding its Japanese delivery network by approximately 60% this year to accommodate surging demand. The manufacturer will open new locations in Yokohama and Kobe this month. Additional sites in Nagoya and the greater Tokyo area will open by year-end. These additions will bring the total number of Japanese delivery locations to 11.
Higher government subsidies are fueling the sales increase. A free fast-charging campaign also contributed to the growth. Tesla added Mikawa Port to its logistics network to increase import capacity.
The company's shares rose 1.2% in premarket trading following the news.
