Tesla plans to unveil its next-generation Roadster as early as this month. The event will take place at the SpaceX facility in McGregor, Texas.
The demonstration may feature a special edition Roadster equipped with a SpaceX-developed cold-gas thruster package. This specific version is not street-legal. Operators may control the vehicle remotely during the event due to the extreme force of the thrusters.
The announcement follows years of delays since the electric supercar’s initial 2017 reveal. Tesla originally targeted a 2020 delivery date for the vehicle.
The SpaceX collaboration aims to deliver unprecedented acceleration performance. Tesla has not yet confirmed a firm delivery date for the standard production model.
